  • Well, the planet is not even on beauty Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Considered equivalent to couples therapy. But it stopped a boyfriend from dumping me because of my self-tan addiction.

I was in my 20s and living life to its walnut-colored maximum. I saw nothing wrong with spending three nights a week walking around my flat like John Wayne trying to stop streaks or missed bits.

Then my boyfriend left and everything changed.

I could see him turning up his nose at the McVitties smell of pillows and bed sheets, which to me was as comforting as the smell of coffee that some people waft through their homes. ‘No snogging please, I’m St Tropez-ing’ also became a sore point.

Needless to say, something had to give. He was self-sufficient.

Thankfully, a timely post drop at the beauty desk introduced me to Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel. I’ve used it in place of my best foundation to warm up my skin tone without that heavy fake-tan effect.

What’s all the fuss about it?

Within minutes of applying it, this creme-gel bronzer took me from looking like a Victorian child with the flu to a J-Lo tawny bronzed goddess who won’t make it through the winter.

There is no denying that there are a bunch of cream bronzers out there.

But Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel is the only one I’ve found that gives a clear hint of natural color with a middle-of-the-road glow. Skin looks radiant and never muddy (another reason why it can be used on darker skin tones to magically brighten).

You can also control where the color goes. Instead of melting into your pores, it dries to a velvety long-lasting finish without being cakey. This is important, because I find that many bronzing powders leave dark brown marks on the face no matter how aggressively you apply them to the skin.

Also good: floral scents. This is what I imagine beautiful people smell like and is definitely an improvement on biscotti pillow cases.

How do I apply Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel?

    There are two different ways.

For a beautiful summer look, I’ll dip a kabuki brush into the formula and then dab the excess on the back of my hand. You can always pick up more colors from there if you need to.

Using soft circular motions, I’ll buff it all over my face to pick up a shade or two darker, forgetting my ears and neck.

For a more evening craft, I’ll take a foundation brush and sweep Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel down my cheekbones, starting at my hairline and stopping about an inch from the corner of my mouth to the contour.
